About the role
Description
he Recreation Therapist evaluates patients across the lifespan and collaborates with patients, families, and interdisciplinary team members to establish goals and develop and implement individualized therapeutic programs. This hands-on role provides direct patient care and supports recovery, independence, and community reintegration.
Responsibilities:
- Complete patient evaluations and develop individualized treatment goals and interventions.
- Provide individual and group therapeutic recreation sessions based on patient treatment plans.
- Facilitate community reintegration outings, including 1:1 and group activities, in accordance with policies and procedures.
- Facilitate cooking and other therapeutic activities as appropriate.
- Coordinate with community resources to support continuity of care and successful discharge.
- Educate patients and families and provide appropriate resources for continued progress after discharge.
- Maintain patient confidentiality and comply with patient rights, safety, infection control, regulatory, ethical, and legal requirements.
- Maintain a safe, clean environment and promptly report hazards.
- Complete required in-services and maintain professional standards for attendance, conduct, appearance, and customer service. Demonstrate courtesy, compassion, and respect while promoting the organization's mission, vision, and values.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in Recreation Therapy from an accredited university.
- National certification as a Certified Therapeutic Recreation Specialist (CTRS) through NCTRC.
- Current CPR and First Aid certification.
- 1–2 years of experience working with individuals with physical disabilities or in a rehabilitation setting preferred.
