Recreational Therapist

About This Role

Recreational Therapists who excel in this role conduct assessments, establish treatment goals, and evaluate patient progress, working as part of a multidisciplinary team. They coordinate therapeutic activities for groups and assist with discharge planning, providing information on leisure lifestyles and community resources.

Responsibilities

• Conduct assessment and establish recreational therapy treatment goals and objectives to meet the individual needs of patients
• Pre-certify patient care
• Conduct ongoing reviews to authorize continued care
• Evaluate each patient's progress and the effectiveness of recreational therapy interventions
• Formulate a goal-directed plan of care in conjunction with the multi-disciplinary treatment team utilizing assessment date from the Interdisciplinary Assessments
• Update Treatment Plan weekly or more often as needed
• Coordinate therapeutic recreation activities for both large and small groups to observe patient response and encourage socialization
• Assist with development of discharge plan in timely and documented standards
• Provide patient and patient's family with information regarding leisure life styles and create an awareness of recreational resources in their community

Requirements

• Bachelor's Degree in Recreational Therapy or related field
• Therapeutic Recreation Specialist certification
• BLS
• Handle with Care (within 3 months of hire)
• Current Recreational Therapist license

• Schedule: Monday-Friday, 8:00 AM-4:30 PM; occasional rotating weekends
