Duties
Performs a variety of routine professional accounting functions requiring analytical, procedural, and technical skills designed to advance the intern's analytical, judgment, procedural and technical skills.
Performs a variety of tasks in support of professional accounting to include establishing and maintaining reports for financial management activities in accordance with established accounting principles and policies.
Uses automated financial management databases and systems and computer-generated products.
Performs special assignments in keeping with the formal training plan.
Qualifications
SPECIALIZED EXPERIENCE: One year of specialized experience equivalent to at least the GS-05 grade level. Specialized experience is defined as experience working with database applications in an accounting environment to develop tables, enter data, develop queries, and prepare reports; preparing spreadsheets to perform analysis and prepare reports of financial data; communicating orally and in writing results of analysis to supervisor and professional accountants; and extensive skills in database and spreadsheet creation, management, query building and report generation.
FEDERAL TIME-IN-GRADE (TIG) Requirement for General Schedule (GS) Positions: Applicants must have served at least 52 weeks at the GS-07 or higher grade (or equivalent in an alternate pay system) within the Federal Civil Service to be considered for referral. The purpose of TIG restrictions is to prevent excessively rapid promotions in competitive service GS positions and to protect competitive principles.

Professional knowledge of accounting practices, methods, and techniques and generally accepted accounting principles and standards.

Ability to gather, assemble, interpret, and analyze financial management information and present it in written reports, statements, and platform briefings.

Knowledge of management theories, principles, concepts and practices as well as pertinent regulations, precedents, policies, and other guides of the employing organization.

Ability to research and analyze data and to interpret findings, and the ability to use Information Technology to do so.

Ability to communicate orally and in writing.
Education
