About This Role
Joining the innovation team as an R&D Food Scientist, you will play a key role in driving product innovation from concept to commercialization. This position is for someone passionate about creating the next generation of food products that delight consumers and push the boundaries of flavor and texture.
Responsibilities
- Develop, optimize, and scale up new food product formulations in collaboration with R&D management
- Assist in the design, planning, execution, and analysis of R&D projects and experiments aimed at improving product taste, texture, shelf life, and ingredient knowledge
- Maintain laboratory equipment according to established protocols and ensure proper lab organization
- Communicate experimental results to team members and synthesize ongoing project updates for presentations to senior leadership
- Keep a rigorous and detailed laboratory digital document for accurate record-keeping
- Participate in monitoring product, ingredient, competitor, and technical developments
- Ensure compliance with food safety regulations and quality standards throughout the product development process
- Support onsite plant trials, first production runs, and troubleshooting production issues in conjunction with quality control
- Conduct stability studies, sensory evaluations, and competitive product evaluations
- Collaborate with supply chain and quality assurance to source and qualify new raw materials and vendors, ensuring regulatory compliance
- Assist in developing standard operating procedures (SOPs) and technology transfer documents
Requirements
- 4-year degree in Chemistry, Biology, Food Science, or applied science
- 2+ years of quality, R&D or manufacturing experience
- Moderate to advanced computer skills (word processing, spreadsheets, and database navigation)
- Knowledge of R&D Genesis programs
- Basic to moderate knowledge of food regulations with specific emphasis on nutritional labeling, natural food ingredients, Hazard Analysis and Critical Control Point (HACCP) and Good Manufacturing Practices (GMPs)
- Demonstrated effective written and verbal communication skills
- Demonstrated strong organizational skills and attention to detail
