Radiology Technician

About This Role

The Radiology Technician is responsible for performing all scheduled or unscheduled x-ray studies ordered by a licensed provider. This role involves preparing the room and patient for examinations, operating x-ray equipment, and ensuring high-quality images while adhering to safety standards.

Responsibilities

• Perform x-ray studies as ordered by a licensed provider
• Prepare the room, equipment, and necessary paperwork
• Prepare the patient for the examination and explain the procedure
• Provide radiation protection for the patient according to prescribed safety standards
• Transfer patients to and from the x-ray room
• Position patients correctly for x-rays
• Operate x-ray equipment, selecting proper technical factors on an individual patient basis to produce good quality radiographs
• Follow protocols and guidelines to ensure accurate and high-quality images
• Develop films using an automatic processor
• Place patient identification and markers on radiographs
• Collaborate with Clinicians to provide necessary imaging support for patient care
• Report equipment failures and participate in quality assurance
• Inventory and order supplies
• Maintain the Patient Daily Log
• Perform other duties as assigned

Requirements

• High School Diploma or equivalent
• Knowledge of radiation safety protocols and procedures
• Knowledge of operating X-ray equipment and understanding imaging techniques
• Ability to prepare basic correspondence and simple reports in Microsoft Word
• Ability to use Microsoft Excel to create tables and simple displays of information
• Graduation or completion of an approved program resulting in limited x-ray technician licensure by the state of California
• Ability to effectively communicate complex and/or technical information to co-workers and others
• Expected to exercise tact and diplomacy in the resolution of mild conflicts or disagreements
• Requires the effective communication of written information including electronic correspondence
• Moderate risk even with controls in place (sharp objects, etc.)
