Job Description and Duties
The Radiologic Technologist (Safety) will be directed by the Chief of Primary Care or their designee in the Central Medical Services Department at the Department of State Hospitals – Atascadero (ASH). The incumbent will be responsible for the following duties but not limited to:

  • Performs radiographic exams, processes and manages x-ray image data.
  • Responsible for the care and safety of patients undergoing x-ray examination, including observation of the patient's reactions during their examination.
  • Applies and demonstrates knowledge of correct methods in Therapeutic Strategies and Interventions (TSI). Assist in the maintenance of a safe and secure environment through response to physical assaults, escape attempts or other major patient disturbance, and assist in the management of the conduct of patients.
  • Overseeing the safety of patient escorts and other coworkers.
  • Maintains records and prepares reports as requested by supervisor.

Special Requirements

  • The position(s) require(s) a Background Investigation be cleared prior to being hired.
  • The position(s) require(s) Medical Clearance prior to being hired.
  • Candidates MUST include a copy of their valid certificate as a Certified Radiologic Technologist in diagnostic Radiologic Technology issue by the California State Department of Health Services.
  • Candidates who believe they meet the Minimum Qualifications (MQs) based on a pattern of education, as outlined in the classification description (specifications), MUST submit a copy of their unofficial college transcripts with their application (STD. 678). Transcripts must include candidate's name, the name of the school, and the date the degree was conferred, if applicable, in order to be considered for this position. Foreign transcripts must include verification for US equivalency from an independent company.
  • Candidates who believe they meet the Minimum Qualifications (MQs) based on successful completion of a two-year training program in Radiologic Technology approved by the Council on Medical Education and Hospitals of the American Medical Association, in collaboration with the American College of Radiology MUST attach a copy of their training program transcripts and certificate to their application.
