About the role
Job Summary Provides general radiology and fluoroscopic imaging in various hospital areas, including emergency, surgery, and bedside services, under supervision.
Essential Responsibilities
- Performs radiologic exams following departmental protocols, positioning patients, using immobilization devices, and selecting technical factors for optimal imaging.
- Reviews orders, correlates clinical history, and consults with radiologists and nurses as needed.
- Ensures patient safety by verifying identity, maintaining confidentiality, and documenting procedures accurately in RIS.
- Prepares sterile fields, contrast agents, and supplies; assists radiologists during fluoroscopic procedures and operates imaging systems effectively.
- Post-processes images for interpretation, transmits to PACS, and maintains equipment functionality; reports malfunctions or safety concerns.
- Provides compassionate patient care by explaining procedures, answering questions, and assisting with transport.
- Implements safety measures to minimize radiation exposure, records fluoroscopy time, and follows ALARA principles.
- Participates in resuscitation efforts during emergencies, maintains departmental cleanliness, and shares on-call duties.
- Engages in ongoing education, attends departmental meetings, and adheres to safety protocols and procedures.
Basic Qualifications
- Associates degree in radiologic technology or two years of related experience.
- Radiographer license (Hawaii) required at hire.
- American Heart Association Basic Life Support certification.
- American Registry of Radiologic Technologists certification required at hire.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience in trauma, fluoroscopy, and surgical imaging.
