About the role

Job Description

  • We are looking for a qualified and experienced Radiographer / Imaging Technician to perform diagnostic X-ray imaging in a clinic environment. The candidate will be responsible for delivering safe and high-quality imaging services while maintaining strict radiation safety standards, AERB compliance, zero-leakage controls, equipment readiness, and timely coordination with radiologists and reporting teams.

Role Purpose

  • Perform safe, accurate, and high-quality diagnostic imaging.
  • Ensure strict adherence to radiation protection and safety protocols.
  • Maintain compliance with Atomic Energy Regulatory Board (AERB) guidelines.
  • Ensure zero radiation leakage and proper safety controls.
  • Coordinate with radiologists and reporting partners for timely reports.
  • Maintain accurate digital records and regulatory documentation.

Key Responsibilities Diagnostic Imaging Execution:

  • Perform X-ray imaging according to prescribed protocols and clinical requirements.
  • Verify patient identity, selected study, and required consent before exposure.
  • Position patients accurately to obtain high-quality diagnostic images.
  • Follow established imaging protocols to minimize repeat scans.
  • Maintain defined image-quality standards and technical accuracy.

Radiation Safety & AERB Compliance

  • Ensure complete compliance with applicable AERB guidelines and radiation safety requirements.
  • Use and maintain Thermoluminescent Dosimeter (TLD) badges as mandated.
  • Monitor and record TLD readings and immediately escalate abnormal readings.
  • Ensure proper use of lead aprons, thyroid shields, and protective barriers.
  • Verify shielding integrity and take necessary precautions to prevent radiation leakage.
  • Maintain exposure logs and radiation safety records.
  • Support periodic radiation surveys, inspections, and compliance activities.

Zero Leakage & Safety Controls

  • Confirm that imaging-room shielding and radiation warning signage are intact and compliant.
  • Ensure unauthorized personnel are not exposed during imaging procedures.
  • Strictly follow ALARA (As Low As Reasonably Achievable) principles.
  • Immediately report equipment malfunctions or suspected radiation leakage.
  • Follow all prescribed safety procedures before, during, and after imaging.

Equipment Readiness & Quality Checks

  • Conduct daily equipment warm-up and operational checks.
  • Monitor equipment performance and identify technical issues promptly.
  • Maintain calibration logs and preventive maintenance records.
  • Coordinate with the BME/vendor service team for equipment faults and repairs.
  • Ensure imaging equipment remains ready for routine clinical operations.

Doctor & Reporting Coordination

  • Coordinate with radiologists and reporting partners to ensure timely image availability.
  • Upload images promptly to the PACS/reporting system.
  • Monitor report turnaround time and support defined SLA requirements.
  • Proactively escalate reporting delays to the Centre Manager.
  • Ensure proper coordination between imaging and reporting teams.

Documentation & Audit Readiness

  • Maintain accurate digital imaging logs and compliance documentation.
  • Keep AERB licenses, certificates, radiation records, and related documents audit ready.
  • Maintain required exposure, TLD, equipment, and safety records.
  • Participate in internal and external compliance audits.
  • Ensure documentation is complete, accurate, and updated.

Key Performance Indicators

  • Zero radiation safety violations.
  • Zero unexplained radiation exposure or leakage incidents.
  • 100% TLD compliance.
  • Minimal repeat scans caused by technical errors.
  • Report turnaround within the defined SLA.
  • 100% regulatory documentation readiness.

Job Requirements Education & Qualification:

  • Diploma or Degree in Radiography is mandatory.
  • Valid registration as per applicable state norms.

Technical Knowledge

  • Familiarity with AERB compliance is required.
  • Practical knowledge of TLD usage and radiation monitoring.
  • Understanding of radiation protection and ALARA principles.
  • Familiarity with PACS and EMR systems.

  • Qualified Radiographer / Imaging Technician with relevant clinical imaging experience.

  • Familiar with AERB requirements, TLD monitoring, and zero-leakage controls.
  • Detail-oriented and disciplined in maintaining clinical and regulatory records.
  • Able to coordinate effectively with Centre Managers, doctors, radiologists, and reporting teams.
