Quantity Surveyor

About This Role

Working closely with operational teams, the Quantity Surveyor will play a key role in the commercial management of a major heavy civils project. This position is based predominantly on-site and involves ensuring commercial objectives are achieved while maintaining strong client and subcontractor relationships.

Responsibilities

• Manage all commercial aspects of a major civils project from inception through to final account
• Administer NEC contracts and ensure contractual compliance throughout the project lifecycle
• Prepare, submit and agree interim valuations and applications for payment
• Manage subcontract procurement, payments, variations and change control
• Identify, manage and mitigate commercial risks and opportunities
• Produce accurate cost forecasts, CVRs and financial reports
• Support project teams with commercial advice and contractual guidance
• Negotiate and agree final accounts with clients and subcontractors
• Monitor project performance against budgets and programme targets
• Mentor and support junior commercial staff where required

Requirements

• Degree qualified in Quantity Surveying or a related construction discipline
• Proven experience as a Senior Quantity Surveyor within heavy civils, infrastructure or major engineering projects
• Strong working knowledge of NEC forms of contract
• Experience managing projects with significant values and complex commercial challenges
• Ability to work effectively within a site-based project environment
• Excellent negotiation, communication and stakeholder management skills
• Strong commercial awareness with a proactive approach to risk management
• Proficiency in commercial reporting, cost control and forecasting
• Full UK driving licence
