Quality Inspector

About This Role

This Quality Inspector role involves inspecting, measuring, handling, and cleaning manufactured parts to ensure they meet design specifications, customer requirements, and quality standards. The inspector will perform incoming, in-process, and final inspections, record results, and support quality audits and corrective actions.

Responsibilities

• Perform visual and dimensional inspections of manufactured parts at various stages of production
• Verify products meet customer specifications, work orders, drawings, and quality requirements
• Conduct final inspections and identify, isolate, and document non-conforming product
• Use precision inspection equipment, including microscopes, calipers, micrometers, optical comparators, CMMs, and digital measuring devices
• Assist with fluorescent penetrant inspection (FPI) water wash processes
• Inspect irregularly sized and complex parts and use sound judgment to determine product acceptability
• Accurately record inspection results and maintain inspection documentation and Excel spreadsheets
• Perform basic data analysis and complete inspection reports as assigned
• Follow applicable Kyocera policies, ISO 9000 and ISO 14001 standards, ITAR regulations, and SPC requirements
• Participate in 5S and safety programs and maintain a clean, organized work area
• Cross-train in other quality or packaging functions and provide coverage as needed
• Assist with training new inspectors as assigned
• Perform other related duties as required

Requirements

• High school diploma or equivalent required
• Minimum of 1 year of product inspection experience in a manufacturing or laboratory environment
• Ability to read and understand written and verbal instructions in English
• Basic math skills, including the ability to determine tolerances
• Ability to read and interpret mechanical drawings and specifications
• Strong attention to detail and numerical accuracy
• Visual acuity and depth perception suitable for microscope inspection; 20/20 corrected vision (may vary by division)
• Ability to sit or stand for extended periods, perform bending, reaching, pushing, pulling, grasping, twisting, and stooping, and lift and/or carry up to 50 lbs., depending on job function
• Manual dexterity to handle small parts and hand tools
• Willingness to wear required PPE, including finger cots, masks, and/or cleanroom apparel
• Ability to adapt to changing priorities and work effectively with frequent interruptions
• Must be eligible to work in an ITAR-regulated environment
• Ability to pass a criminal background check and drug screen
