About The Role The Customer Quality Engineer at TRAK Group plays a vital role in supporting manufacturing operations by ensuring product quality, enhancing customer satisfaction, and driving continuous improvement initiatives. This position acts as a critical link between customers and internal teams, addressing quality concerns proactively and efficiently. The role involves close collaboration with Engineering, Manufacturing, Production, and Operations departments to investigate issues, implement corrective actions, and support new product launches. The ideal candidate will possess strong problem-solving skills, a thorough understanding of automotive or industrial quality systems, and experience working in a manufacturing environment. Qualifications The ideal candidate will have a proven track record of working directly with customers in a quality, engineering, manufacturing, or technical environment. They should possess a solid understanding of structured problem-solving techniques such as 8D, 5 Why, Six Sigma, or similar methodologies. Familiarity with manufacturing quality management systems like ISO 9001 and IATF 16949 is essential. Candidates should have experience with quality tools including SPC, APQP, FMEA, MSA, Control Plans, and PPAP, along with knowledge of manufacturing and assembly processes. Proficiency in statistical analysis software such as Minitab and strong communication skills are required. A bachelor's degree in Engineering or a related technical discipline is preferred, though equivalent experience combined with relevant manufacturing or quality expertise will be considered.
Responsibilities The Customer Quality Engineer will promote a safe, compliant, and quality-focused work environment by adhering to all company policies and procedures. They will serve as the primary contact for customer quality concerns, responding promptly and coordinating internal resources to resolve issues effectively. The role involves leading investigations into customer-reported quality concerns, conducting root cause analysis, developing corrective actions, and verifying the effectiveness of solutions. The engineer will coordinate containment, inspection, sorting, and other short-term corrective measures when quality issues impact customers or production. Supporting new product and process launches, they will ensure quality requirements are met through documentation, validation, and customer deliverables.
The role also includes monitoring customer quality performance via scorecards and communication channels, partnering with Engineering and Manufacturing teams to identify opportunities for process and product improvements, and facilitating cross-functional problem-solving activities. The engineer will investigate internal and external quality issues, implement preventive actions, and participate in continuous improvement projects aimed at enhancing quality, efficiency, and process reliability. Supporting qualification and validation activities for new components, processes, tooling, and equipment, they will conduct audits to verify compliance with standards and participate in the evaluation and disposition of nonconforming materials. Additionally, they will support customer-specific quality requirements, provide training on quality expectations, and maintain comprehensive documentation to ensure adherence to standards.
