Quality Engineer

About This Role

This Quality Engineer role monitors and reduces process and product variation using statistical tools and the Eaton Quality System. The position establishes and maintains quality assurance standards and procedures, analyzes quality data, and conducts testing in accordance with specifications. It serves as a quality liaison for customers and supports the VSM manager and HPWT on projects and quality objectives.

Responsibilities

• Support new and existing products through the implementation of Quality systems and techniques that comply with customer and regulatory requirements
• Be responsible for overall product quality primarily of Boeing Commercial or Military and Commercial product lines by establishing effective monitoring of product and process quality through development, implementation and maintenance of assembly and verification instructions, process control plans, PFMEAs and final product verification requirements
• Perform and interpret Measurement System Analysis
• Apply and explain statistical data to all levels of the organization
• Identify and eliminate areas of variation throughout the manufacturing process
• Determine root cause corrective actions and work through failure analysis utilizing 8D problem solving discipline
• Identify and reduce costs of nonconformance: scrap, warranty, rework, etc.
• Support HPTW and other duties as assigned

Requirements

• Bachelor’s Degree from an accredited institution
• 1 year of experience in a quality related role within a manufacturing environment
• Must be a U.S. person within the meaning of ITAR (U.S. Citizen, U.S. Permanent Resident, Political Asylee, or Refugee)
• Reside within 50 miles of Grand Rapids, MI
• Ability to work alone and on teams with good interpersonal and leadership qualities
• Effective verbal communications skills
• Good organizational and prioritization skills to maintain and address multiple assigned projects and expectations
• Experienced in the design and development of fixtures, automation workstations, accounting for work and process flow
• Ability to present ideas in a clear and concise manner through various tools or software and gain approval from various levels of the organization

Nice to have:

• Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering
• Ability to read blueprints, technical data sheets, and schematics
• Quality and Metrology knowledge
• Skills in analyzing quality data to identify trends and areas for improvement
• Proficiency in using software tools for data analysis (e.g., Excel, Minitab)
• Knowledge of ISO 9001, AS9100 & IATF 16949
• Flexibility to adjust to changing priorities and new challenges in a dynamic work environment
