About the role
Duties
You would plan and administer the quality control programs used by the service provider to ensure quality standards are met while performing facilities maintenance, management, and operations services. You would be involved in the systematic prevention of defects and nonconformance, the identification of unsatisfactory trends and conditions, and the correction of factors which may affect the delivery of acceptable services.
Being a Coast Guard civilian makes you a valuable member of the Coast Guard team. Typical work assignments include:
- Monitoring and evaluating the service providers performance from inception to conclusion.
- Conducting on-site quality assurance inspections.
- Identifying the service provider's performance deficiencies and initiating corrective action.
- Maintaining complete and accurate records to document and describe the service providers performance.
Qualifications
GS-9: Applicant must possess at least one year of specialized experience equivalent to the GS-7 level in the Federal Service. Specialized experience is experience that has equipped you with the particular ability, skill, and knowledge to successfully perform the duties of this position and is typically in or related to this line of work. Examples of specialized experience include: monitoring, controlling, or maintaining the quality of products or services in quality assurance, inspection, production, or related areas; reviewing production activities and capabilities in light of contract quality requirements; analyzing quality data to detect unsatisfactory trends or weaknesses in the quality/inspection system; identifying inadequacies and requesting corrective action; computing data, summarizing results, and preparing reports or charts depicting pertinent relationships using statistical methods; and investigating customer complaints and deficiency reports, and providing identification of causes to appropriate authorities.
OR To substitute education for specialized experience, completion of 2 full academic years of progressively higher level graduate education or master's or equivalent graduate degree or LL.B. or J.D., if related. Acceptable major fields of study are quality assurance, production or industrial management, statistics, mathematics, engineering, engineering technology, physical sciences, or other related fields;
OR Combination of related post-high school education and experience may be substituted in order to meet the total qualification requirement.
National Service Experience (i.e., volunteer experience): Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community, student, social). Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge, and skills and can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment. You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience.
