Role Overview
The Electrical Quality Engineer is responsible for ensuring that electrical installation, testing, and commissioning activities for data center projects are carried out in accordance with approved drawings, project specifications, quality standards, and applicable codes and regulations.
The role will work closely with the Engineering, Construction, Commissioning, HSE, subcontractors, vendors, and client teams to monitor electrical quality, identify non-conformances, and ensure timely corrective actions and successful project handover.
Roles and Responsibilities
- Monitor and ensure electrical installation works comply with approved drawings, specifications, method statements, ITPs, and project quality requirements.
- Review electrical drawings, material submittals, method statements, inspection checklists, and testing procedures.
- Conduct inspections and monitor the quality of electrical installation works, including switchgear, transformers, generators, UPS, ATS/STS, busduct, cabling, lighting, earthing, and other electrical systems.
- Coordinate with subcontractors and site teams to ensure inspection and testing activities are properly planned and completed.
- Prepare, review, and maintain Inspection and Test Plans (ITPs), checklists, inspection requests, and quality records.
- Witness and monitor electrical testing, pre-commissioning, commissioning, and functional testing activities.
- Identify defects, non-conformances, and quality issues and ensure appropriate corrective and preventive actions are implemented.
- Raise and manage NCRs, observations, punch-list items, and follow-up actions through to closure.
- Verify that materials and equipment received on site comply with approved specifications and required documentation.
- Coordinate with engineers, subcontractors, vendors, and commissioning teams to resolve technical and quality issues.
- Ensure proper documentation and traceability of inspections, test results, material approvals, and quality records.
- Participate in quality audits, site inspections, walkdowns, coordination meetings, and project quality reviews.
- Support preparation of final quality documentation and handover dossiers.
- Promote a strong quality culture and ensure compliance with Exyte's Quality and HSE requirements.
Education and Skill
- Degree or Diploma in Electrical Engineering or related field.
- Minimum 5 years of relevant electrical quality experience in construction projects.
- Experience in data center, industrial, commercial, or other large-scale projects is preferred.
- Good knowledge of electrical installation, inspection, testing, and commissioning practices.
- Good understanding of electrical drawings, specifications, ITPs, method statements, and quality documentation.
- Familiarity with relevant electrical standards, codes, and Malaysian statutory requirements.
- Experience in NCR management, punch-list management, inspections, and quality audits.
- Knowledge of ISO 9001 quality management principles is an advantage.
- Relevant QA/QC certification such as CSWIP, ISO 9001, or equivalent is an advantage.
- Good analytical, documentation, communication, and problem-solving skills.
- Strong attention to detail and commitment to quality.
- Able to work effectively with subcontractors, engineers, vendors, and client representatives.
- Willing to work extended hours, shifts, weekends, or public holidays when required by project activities.
