Job Title: Joint Commission Tracer – Quality & Patient Safety Specialist

Employment Type: Contract (17 Weeks – Through 12/31/2026)
Schedule: Full-Time | Monday–Friday | 9:00 AM–5:00 PM (5x8 Hours)
Work Setting: Onsite / Local
Pay Rate: $45–$55 per hour
Position Overview
We are seeking an experienced Joint Commission Tracer / Quality & Patient Safety Specialist to support healthcare regulatory readiness initiatives and ensure compliance with The Joint Commission (TJC), CMS, and Department of Health (DOH) standards. This role will work closely with clinical teams, operational leaders, and hospital departments to assess compliance, identify risks, support corrective action plans, and strengthen accreditation readiness.
The ideal candidate will have strong hospital-based quality experience, knowledge of regulatory requirements, and expertise in patient safety, quality assurance, and performance improvement.
Key Responsibilities
- Conduct Joint Commission tracer activities, mock surveys, focused standards assessments, and continuous readiness reviews.
- Support healthcare teams in maintaining compliance with Joint Commission, CMS, and DOH requirements.
- Serve as a subject matter expert on accreditation standards, regulatory requirements, and survey readiness.
- Collaborate with departments and clinical teams to implement standardized processes for regulatory compliance.
- Assess documentation, workflows, and operational practices to identify areas of regulatory risk.
- Develop, monitor, and track corrective action plans to address compliance opportunities.
- Review and interpret quality data, reports, and monitoring tools to evaluate compliance and performance.
- Support regulatory survey activities by coordinating responses, documentation, and communication with survey teams.
- Serve as a liaison between leadership, operational teams, and regulatory surveyors.
- Provide education and training related to accreditation standards and regulatory requirements.
- Manage quality improvement projects and support patient safety initiatives.
- Maintain documentation related to survey readiness activities and provide updates to leadership.
- Participate in quality committees, workgroups, and regulatory readiness initiatives.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree required; Master’s degree preferred.
- Minimum 5 years of healthcare experience , preferably within a hospital environment.
- Strong experience in Quality Assurance, Patient Safety, Regulatory Compliance, or Accreditation Readiness .
- Knowledge of Joint Commission, CMS, and DOH requirements and survey processes.
- Experience supporting regulatory surveys, tracers, or mock survey activities.
- Strong project management skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities and deadlines.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications including Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook.
- Experience analyzing healthcare data, quality metrics, and performance improvement reports.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Ability to collaborate effectively with multidisciplinary teams and leadership.
Preferred Qualifications
- Master’s degree in Healthcare Administration, Nursing, Public Health, Quality Management, or related field.
- 3+ years of project management experience.
- Experience leading quality improvement initiatives and regulatory readiness programs.
Work Requirements
- Must be able to work onsite in New York, NY.
- Flexibility to support different healthcare locations as needed.
- Ability to manage multiple projects and regulatory priorities in a fast-paced healthcare environment.
