QA Manager

About This Role

This managerial role focuses on ensuring the quality, performance, and reliability of retail products through inspection, testing, and data-driven analysis. The QA Manager will evaluate returned products, identify root causes of defects, analyze return trends, and lead continuous improvement initiatives. The role involves overseeing quality processes and collaborating with Quality Assurance, Customer Service, and Operations teams to reduce product defects and improve customer satisfaction.

Responsibilities

• Oversee the inspection and evaluation of returned retail products and samples
• Ensure functional testing is conducted (cooling, heating, leakage, performance validation)
• Review visual inspections for physical damage and cosmetic defects
• Lead root cause analysis of product failures using inspection and testing data
• Differentiate between functional defects, cosmetic issues, and customer misuse
• Utilize quality tools (e.g., 5 Whys, RCA) to identify failure trends and implement solutions
• Analyze return data to identify recurring product issues and defect trends
• Oversee maintenance of inspection logs, test results, and quality reports
• Provide actionable insights and recommendations to improve product quality and reduce returns
• Develop and track KPIs and quality metrics related to returns and defects
• Establish guidelines for product disposition (resale, refurbishment, parts recovery, scrap)
• Oversee repair or reconditioning processes when applicable
• Partner with Customer Service, Product, and Operations teams to resolve quality issues
• Communicate findings related to defects, missing parts, or misuse
• Lead corrective and preventive actions (CAPA) based on defect trends
• Maintain an organized, safe, and efficient workspace (5S standards)
• Oversee inventory reconciliation of returned products
• Ensure compliance with company SOPs and quality standards
• Provide guidance, training, and support to QA/warehouse team members

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree or higher required
• Minimum 2+ years of management or leadership experience required
• 3–5 years of experience in product quality, inspection, or data analysis
• Basic mechanical aptitude and familiarity with small appliances
• Strong attention to detail and analytical thinking skills
• Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and manage multiple priorities
• Basic computer skills (Excel, Word, email, ERP/RMA systems)
• Ability to lift up to 50 lbs and stand for extended periods
