QA Manager

About This Role

The QA Manager will oversee a comprehensive quality assurance program, implementing rigorous procedures to control beer quality from "grain to glass." This role involves cross-functional training to ensure all production aspects meet the highest standards, and it also includes a technical component, leading microbiological and chemical analysis.

Responsibilities

• Develop Standard Operating Procedures and align functionally to improve beer quality
• Maintain program budget
• Escalate CAPEX needs for new equipment if necessary
• Oversee sensory tasting panels to create a quality framework/foundation
• Collaborate with brewing, packaging, and management teams to implement delegated tasks central to the Quality program
• Be responsible for QA equipment procurement, installation, and applicable performance management
• Organize and provide training to field staff to ensure external standards
• Manage hourly lab personnel while utilizing brewery staff for QA processes and checks
• Oversee general chemical and microbiological analyses on water and the brewery environment
• Oversee standardized laboratory tests on in-process and finished beer, including wort and yeast
• Be accountable for all consumer, retail, and wholesaler complaint and product quality issues being met with the proper level of investigation and follow up
• Engage with any cross brewing or repack locations to ensure product quality
• Maintain production team educational standards through the Quality Committee
• Orchestrate sample shipping for cross brew or contract partners

Requirements

• Bachelor’s Degree in Brewing, Chemistry, Food Science, or related field
• 3+ years of beer, food, or beverage industry experience
• 2+ years of leadership experience preferred
