Responsibilities
- Assess the existing application environment and define the migration approach to Python/Django
- Analyze existing application architecture, business logic, APIs, database structures, and integrations
- Develop a modernization roadmap covering application migration, refactoring, and redevelopment
- Leverage Virtusa accelerators and AIDLC practices to accelerate code analysis, conversion, code generation, and testing
- Implement AI-assisted reverse engineering and documentation of legacy applications
- Design and develop Python/Django applications, REST APIs, and backend services
- Migrate existing business rules, workflows, and data access logic to the target architecture
- Integrate the modernized application with existing databases, third-party systems, and enterprise platforms
- Implement automated unit, integration, regression, and performance testing
- Integrate code repositories, CI/CD pipelines, code quality checks, and security controls
- Validate functional parity, data integrity, performance, and security between existing and modernized applications
- Support deployment, production readiness, knowledge transfer, and post-migration stabilization
Requirements
- 8–12 years of software engineering experience, including application modernization
- Strong hands-on experience with Python, Django, Django REST Framework, and REST APIs
- Experience migrating legacy applications to Python/Django from existing technology stacks
- Strong understanding of application architecture, design patterns, databases, SQL, and system integrations
- Experience with AI-assisted software development and AIDLC implementation
- Experience using Virtusa accelerators or comparable AI-enabled modernization tools
- Knowledge of automated testing, Git, CI/CD, DevOps, and application security
- Experience with code analysis, refactoring, and legacy application reverse engineering
- Strong troubleshooting, technical design, and stakeholder collaboration skills
Nice to have:
- Experience modernizing enterprise-scale applications
- Knowledge of cloud platforms, containerization, and microservices
- Experience with AI-assisted code conversion, test generation, and documentation
- Experience planning phased migrations, parallel runs, and legacy system decommissioning
