Public Relations Specialist

About This Role

This Public Relations Specialist role is a permanent, full-time position within the Corporate Communications team, where you will help shape and support Air Canada Vacations' corporate image and maintain its leadership in the leisure travel industry. The role involves participating in PR strategies, managing media relations, and enhancing the company's presence through various channels.

Responsibilities

• Participate in the planning and execution of PR strategies
• Support with media relations and filter requests
• Conduct media outreach including pitching, follow-up, and reporting
• Research, develop, and maintain relationships with key media and influencers
• Explore partnership opportunities
• Enhance the company’s voice and presence through online and offline channels
• Coordinate Air Canada Vacations annual travel awards program
• Take part in the ideation process of PR initiatives
• Participate in the company’s environmental audit and Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) reporting
• Lead Air Canada Vacations Sustainability Committee and initiatives
• Create a variety of communications, including presentations, news releases, pitches, and partnership decks
• Support with Crisis Communications, including travel advisories
• Stay up to date with travel industry trends, media contacts, and potential new channels and strategies to help grow and reach new audiences
• Support with coordination of internal and external events
• Support Internal Communications with projects, as required

Requirements

• Bilingual – English & French, verbal and written
• University degree or Cegep diploma in a related field or equivalent experience
• Strong writing, editing, and proofreading skills
• Working knowledge of PowerPoint, Word, Excel, TEAMs, and JIRA, with willingness to learn new programs and platforms
• Proven track record of achieving earned media coverage
• Understanding of social marketing principles and strategies
• Team player, comfortable working cross-functionally with all levels of management
• Demonstrates autonomy, excellent work/organizational methods, and acts in a professional and discreet manner
• Must be comfortable working in a fast-paced, collaborative corporate environment
