Public Relations Specialist

About This Role

This Public Relations Specialist role provides communications, outreach, and administrative support for the Airfield and Terminal Modernization Program (ATMP) Roadways and Enabling Projects. The specialist will assist with public information and community outreach initiatives, stakeholder engagement activities, public notifications, and project communications, ensuring accurate, timely, and consistent communication with all project stakeholders.

Responsibilities

• Provide communications, outreach, and administrative support for the Airfield and Terminal Modernization Program (ATMP) Roadways and Enabling Projects (Century Beautification, Airport Gateway, various Airport Landside projects, etc.)
• Report to the Public Information Specialist II
• Assist with the implementation of public information and community outreach initiatives, stakeholder engagement activities, public notifications, and project communications
• Support efforts to maintain accurate, timely, and consistent communication with project stakeholders, community members, businesses, and the public throughout project planning, design, and construction activities
• Maintain electronic records, contact databases, and project communication logs
• Perform other duties as assigned
• Work evenings, weekends, or extended hours to support outreach events and project milestones as required
• Conduct occasional field visits and attend community meetings and public events

Requirements

• Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite, including Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Outlook, and Teams
• Familiarity with Canva and Adobe Creative Suite
• Experience working with website content management systems (CMS), including Drupal or similar platforms
• Familiarity with email marketing platforms such as Benchmark or similar systems
• Knowledge of social media platforms and content management tools
• Experience in public outreach, public relations, communications, community engagement, or a related field
• Strong written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills
• Excellent organizational and time management skills
• Ability to manage multiple assignments and deadlines in a fast-paced environment
• Detail-oriented with strong proofreading and quality control abilities
• Ability to interact professionally with community members, businesses, agencies, elected officials, and project stakeholders
• Demonstrates excellent customer service and stakeholder relations skills
• Ability to work effectively in a collaborative team environment
• Bachelor's Degree in Communications, Public Relations, Journalism, Marketing, Public Administration, Planning, Political Science, or a related field
