Public Health and Hawki Outreach Specialist

About This Role

The Public Health and Hawki Outreach Specialist plays a vital role in connecting families with healthcare resources and ensuring children have access to medical and dental providers. This position is ideal for a compassionate and organized individual who enjoys making a positive impact in the community.

Responsibilities

• Educate families about the Care for Kids program and other services available through Firefly.
• Coordinate care for children enrolled in Medicaid, assisting families in finding local medical and dental providers.
• Help families understand available healthcare resources and navigate the services they need.
• Conduct Hawki outreach services at a minimum of 16 locations each month throughout the service area.
• Support public health initiatives and participate in occasional community outreach events.
• Become certified to drive Firefly’s Mobile Wellness Unit to bring services directly to the community.
• Work with a multidisciplinary team to strengthen partnerships among community agencies.
• Contribute to program planning, implementation, and continuous quality improvement.
• Serve diverse families with compassion, professionalism, and respect for their individual needs, backgrounds, and identities.
• Maintain accurate documentation, meet productivity expectations, and protect the confidentiality of families and team members.

Requirements

• High school diploma or equivalent required; a bachelor’s degree preferred.
• One to two years of relevant work experience.
• Excellent customer service and communication skills, including the ability to assist clients over the phone and in person.
• Spanish-speaking skills are highly desirable.
• Comfort using Microsoft Office and database systems.
• Familiarity with local community resources is helpful.
• A valid driver’s license is required; employees using a personal vehicle must provide proof of insurance.
• CPR/First Aid certification; must become certified to drive the Mobile Wellness Unit.
