Duties
Air Reserve Technicians are full-time civilian employees who are also members of the Air Force Reserve unit in which they are employed. In addition to their civilian assignments, they are assigned to equivalent positions in the Reserve organization with a Reserve military rank or grade. Appointee's civilian assignments will consist of the following duties:
· Conducts public affairs functions for Combat Camera (COMCAM) missions worldwide; ensuring public affairs activities comply with legal and regulatory requirements and meet AF and DoD leadership needs.
· Responds to Secretary of the Air Force, Joint Chiefs of Staff and Department of Defense directed imagery requests on wartime operations, worldwide crises, contingencies, joint exercises and humanitarian operations.
· Performs and participates in special assignments, special projects and initiatives; responsible for researching, planning, executing, and/or evaluating complex public affairs operations, programs, and policies which affect a variety of functional areas.
· Represents the COMCAM unit with variety of installation and functional area organizations, councils, boards, working groups, and panels inside and outside the agency, including Headquarters Air Force, DoD (Office of the Secretary of Defense, Joint Staff, unified combatant command and sister services), and other governmental, public organizations.
· Exercises limited supervisory personnel management responsibilities for 1-4 employees.
Qualifications
SPECIALIZED EXPERIENCE: At least one (1) year of specialized experience at the next lower grade (GS-11) or equivalent. Specialized experience must include a variety of public affairs functions, media operations, audio visual productions and imagery.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES (KSAs): Your qualifications will be evaluated on the basis of your level of knowledge, skills, abilities and/or competencies in the following areas:
1. Knowledge of a wide range of oral, written, and visual communication concepts, principles, policies, practices, methods, applications, techniques, standards and trends; analytical methods; interpersonal relations practices applicable to researching, planning, developing, coordinating, and evaluating new information materials for information programs.
2. Knowledge of the missions, roles, functions, organizational structures, relationships, and operational planning objectives of Air Force and DoD organizations.
- Knowledge of safety and security regulations, practices, and procedures.
4. Skill in gathering, evaluating, and interpreting data to identify potential problems, arrive at valid conclusions, and offer meaningful recommendations and/or resolutions.
5. Skill in communicating effectively with tact and diplomacy, orally and in writing, to advocate agency positions; to logically and effectively explain programs, functions, and activities and gain understanding of the organization's efforts by responsive publics and people with varying levels of understanding.
6. Ability to plan, organize, and direct the functions and staff of a small organization.
PART-TIME OR UNPAID EXPERIENCE**:** Credit will be given for appropriate unpaid and or part-time work. You must clearly identify the duties and responsibilities in each position held and the total number of hours per week.
VOLUNTEER WORK EXPERIENCE: Refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service Programs (i.e., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community; student and social). Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge and skills that can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment. You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience.
