About This Role

Working as part of the medical service at the Rotterdam Detention Center, the psychologist provides mental health care to detainees and foreign nationals. This role involves psychological diagnostics, risk assessments, and crisis intervention for a diverse group of people from various countries and cultures.

Responsibilities

• Perform psychological diagnostics and intake, conducting psychological research and making diagnoses to recommend appropriate treatment interventions
• Analyze criminal behavior, draw up risk assessments, and advise on the correct care pathway
• Support colleagues and detainees/foreign nationals in crisis situations and discuss the impact on group dynamics
• Coach teams on treatment methodologies and approaches to optimally respond to the needs of detainees
• Maintain close contact with internal and external care professionals and contribute to policy and treatment plans
• Collaborate with other disciplines on complex cases to ensure tailor-made care pathways are always provided

Requirements

• Completed university degree in Psychology (preferably Master's in Psychology) and in possession of BAPD and LOGO certifications
• Preferably experience in a (forensic) care environment, for example within mental health care, justice, or a penitentiary institution
• Knowledge of psychological diagnostics, risk assessments, and treatment methodologies
• Affinity with the forensic target group: interest in forensic psychology and psychiatry and a desire to contribute to the recovery of this specific target group

Important Details

• Schedule: minimum 24 - maximum 32 hours per week
• Contract: 1 year, temporary employment contract with the prospect of permanent employment (with a probationary period of up to 1 month)

• Team: multidisciplinary medical service including GZ psychologists, psychiatrists, general practitioners, nurses, and other medical disciplines
