About This Role

This psychiatrist role involves providing virtual consultations primarily to veteran patients from the Canadian Armed Forces, focusing on medical cannabis treatment. The position requires specialist expertise to review treatment plans and offer psychological case management input to an interdisciplinary team.

Responsibilities

• Provide consultations for veteran patients, using specialist expertise to review medical cannabis treatment plans prescribed by healthcare practitioners
• Determine if medical cannabis treatment plans are reasonable and necessary
• Complete and submit relevant documentation
• Provide psychological case management input and recommendations to interdisciplinary team members regarding patient progress, psycho-social barriers, and conflict management

Requirements

• Medical degree and registration with the College of Physicians and Surgeons of your province
• Excellent communication skills, written and verbal in English
• Demonstrated ability to work independently and to manage a busy workload
• Team-oriented approach with existing support team members
• Highly organized with strong time management skills
• Informed and abreast of relevant scientific research
