Psychiatrist

About This Role

This role involves ensuring the health and safety of clients, assessing and prescribing appropriate medication, and evaluating medical and psychiatric issues. The psychiatrist will also approve potential admissions based on medical and psychiatric requirements and consult with the treatment team on primary diagnoses and co-occurring issues.

Responsibilities

• Maintain a safe and secure environment
• Help clients by providing information, services, and assistance
• Conduct routine checkups and psychiatric evaluations of clients
• Conduct follow-up and evaluation of client physical and psychiatric conditions
• Prescribe medications as necessary
• Document clinical, medical, and psychiatric treatments and recommendations
• Oversee and collaborate with clinicians on client's treatment plans
• Participate in clinical treatment team meetings twice a month
• Pre-screen clients by reviewing psych and medical records for admission
• Function within the guidelines of the facility's Code of Ethics and in accordance with corporate compliance
• Represent the program within the community at local, regional, and national events, as requested
• Assist in promoting and ensuring the organization's values, mission, goals, and objectives are understood and actively supported by the employees
• Perform other duties as assigned

Requirements

• At least 3 years of residency in psychiatry
• Active valid licensed practitioner in the state of Pennsylvania
• Willingness to work with a clinician to make recommendations and implement strategies that will benefit clients
• Willingness to take calls during after-hours days and times
• PHI Access in Medical
• Ability to communicate with peers, clients, families, other facilities, and/or vendors
• Tolerant to various noise levels (work environment varies from very quiet to moderate)
• Ability to sit or remain stationary for extended periods of time
• Ability to move throughout the building and facility grounds
• Ability to move up to 25 pounds
• Valid driver's license, vehicle insurance, and acceptable driving record
• Clearance of TB test and any other mandatory state/federal requirements
• Current CPR and First Aid certification

Important Details

• Schedule: Minimum of two hours a week, depending on current census
