Psychiatric Technician

Job Summary

PT/PRN Monday-Friday: 12:30pm - 4:30pm

Duties

• Observe and monitor patients’ behaviors, ensuring safety and well-being at all times
• Assist with patient activities of daily living, including hygiene, feeding, and mobility support
• Implement behavior management techniques to promote positive behaviors and de-escalate crises
• Administer medications as directed by medical staff, following proper procedures and documentation protocols
• Document patient observations, interventions, and progress accurately in medical records
• Participate in crisis intervention efforts to address acute behavioral episodes promptly and effectively
• Support psychiatric care plans by collaborating with nurses, clinicians, and other healthcare professionals
• Maintain a clean, safe environment by adhering to infection control standards and safety protocols
• Conduct patient observations to identify changes in mental status or behavior that require immediate attention
• Assist in the preparation of treatment activities designed to foster emotional stability and recovery

Qualifications

• Prior experience or training in psychiatry, behavioral health, or related medical fields is highly desirable
• Knowledge of crisis intervention techniques and behavior management strategies
• Experience working with individuals with disabilities or in acute care settings is preferred
• Familiarity with medical terminology, medication administration procedures, and medical records documentation
• Strong observational skills to monitor patient status effectively and respond appropriately during emergencies
• Background working in hospital environments or corrections facility medical clinics is advantageous
• Ability to remain calm under pressure while managing challenging behaviors confidently
• Excellent communication skills for collaborating with multidisciplinary teams and engaging with patients empathetically
