Psychiatric Nurse Practitioner

About This Role

This full-time Psychiatric Nurse Practitioner role is a hybrid position, with some flexibility for work-from-home tasks such as telehealth visits and documentation. The Psychiatric Nurse Practitioner will conduct comprehensive psychiatric evaluations, develop and implement treatment plans, and provide ongoing medication management for adolescents and adults.

Responsibilities

• Educate patients and families on diagnoses, medications, and self-management strategies
• Adhere to practice policies, regulatory standards, and ethical guidelines
• Contribute to a collaborative care environment by participating in case discussions and supporting quality improvement initiatives

Requirements

• Strong foundation in Mental Health Nursing and Nursing, with the ability to provide safe, person-centered psychiatric care
• Clinical experience and training as a Nurse Practitioner, preferably with certification as a Psychiatric-Mental Health Nurse Practitioner (PMHNP) or equivalent
• Demonstrated skills in Mental Health Care and Psychiatric Care, including assessment, diagnosis, treatment planning, and crisis intervention
• Active, unrestricted Registered Nurse (RN) and Nurse Practitioner (NP) licenses in Virginia, or eligibility to obtain licensure within a reasonable timeframe
• Master’s or Doctoral degree in Nursing from an accredited program
• Board certification in psychiatric-mental health strongly preferred
• Proficiency with electronic health records, telehealth platforms, and clear, accurate clinical documentation
• Excellent communication, interpersonal, and collaboration skills, with the ability to work effectively in a multidisciplinary team and with diverse patient populations
• Commitment to ethical practice, patient confidentiality, and ongoing professional development through continuing education and supervision
• Experience in outpatient psychiatry or community mental health settings is highly beneficial
