Psychiatric Nurse Practitioner

About This Role

This outpatient role provides comprehensive behavioral health services in a community health center setting, both in-clinic and via telehealth. The Psychiatric-Mental Health Nurse Practitioner will focus on prevention, diagnosis, and treatment for patients with behavioral health, chronic, or acute health care problems, serving medically underserved areas.

Responsibilities

• Provide comprehensive behavioral health care in a community health center setting
• Practice medicine in accordance with generally accepted medical care standards
• Provide hospitalization and follow-up services and consult as necessary and appropriate
• Provide at least the minimum scheduled hours of office practice
• Carry out supervisor preceptorships of extender staff and other appropriate educational preceptorships
• Participate in appropriate professional continuing medical education as needed and maintain licensure
• Maintain knowledge of community resources for both social and medical referrals

Requirements

• MSN with PMHNP or related degree
• Licensed or eligible for licensure in the State of Iowa and Illinois
• Board-certified or Board-eligible
• Complete or be eligible to complete requirements for the practice of medicine in Iowa and Illinois, including state agreements for payment of health services under Medicare and Medicaid
• Eligible for Drug Enforcement Agency permission to prescribe and maintain controlled substances
