A top employer in the power delivery and infrastructure industry is looking for a Protection & Control Designer to join their growing team. This individual will support a heavy pipeline of protective relay replacement and substation upgrade projects for utility and data center clients. The ideal candidate will have hands-on P&C design experience and be capable of developing designs that move into construction and energization. This is a highly technical role focused on engineering design rather than drafting support or design review activities.
Some responsibilities of the Protection & Control Designer will include but are not limited to:
- Developing and modifying protection & control designs for substation projects
- Creating three-line diagrams, schematics, wiring diagrams, and panel layout drawings
- Designing protective relay schemes for utility and data center applications
- Producing design packages using AutoCAD
- Supporting relay replacement and substation upgrade projects from concept through construction
- Working with SEL, GE, and similar relay technologies
- Collaborating with engineers and project teams to ensure constructible, energizable designs
Must Have/Requirements:
- Strong Protection & Control (P&C) design experience
- Experience performing technical design work, not strictly CAD drafting or design review
- Ability to independently develop protective relay schemes and substation designs
- Experience creating three-line, schematic, wiring, and panel layout drawings
- AutoCAD proficiency
- Experience within an EPC environment
- Familiarity with SEL, GE, or similar relay platforms
