The Project Director takes ownership of a portfolio of high-value engineering and construction projects across the Rail sector, ensuring safe, profitable, high-quality, and right-first-time delivery. Responsibilities
- Lead and oversee the successful delivery of major engineering and construction projects
- Drive project performance across safety, quality, programme, commercial, and compliance metrics
- Provide strategic direction and leadership to Project Managers and delivery teams
- Foster collaboration across engineering, design, procurement, commercial, and operational functions
- Ensure robust governance, risk management, and adherence to company processes
- Monitor project financial performance, cash flow, forecasting, and margin delivery
- Champion continuous improvement, innovation, and operational excellence
- Conduct regular site and project reviews to ensure projects remain on track
- Build and maintain strong relationships with clients, stakeholders, and supply chain partners
- Mentor, develop, and inspire teams to achieve outstanding results
- Lead a culture of accountability, teamwork, and high performance
Requirements
- Minimum 10 years' experience in a senior project leadership role
- Proven delivery of major multi-million-pound MEP, engineering, or infrastructure projects
- Extensive experience in engineering construction, contract management, and operational leadership
- Strong commercial awareness, including cost control, forecasting, and risk management
- Experience within highly regulated, secure, or government-related environments
- Ability to obtain Security Clearance through Emico sponsorship
- Inspirational leadership and people management skills
- Strong engineering and construction knowledge
- Commercially astute with excellent contract management capability
- Ability to make strategic decisions while remaining focused on project detail
