Job Summary:

Primary Responsibilities

  • Assist with planning and coordinating population health initiatives, meetings, and special projects.
  • Support community outreach and engagement activities, including health fairs, educational events, and stakeholder meetings.
  • Assist with literature reviews, evidence summaries, and white papers.
  • Help collect, organize, and maintain research and program evaluation data.
  • Enter, clean, and manage data using Microsoft Excel, REDCap, or other databases.
  • Assist in preparing presentations, reports, educational materials, and meeting agendas.
  • Support communication with community organizations, healthcare providers, and project partners.
  • Assist with scheduling meetings, preparing meeting minutes, and tracking project timelines.
  • Help develop social media, website, and public education materials related to cancer prevention and population health.
  • Assist with grant-related activities, including document preparation and progress tracking.
  • Perform other duties as assigned to support the Population Health Program.

Depending on ongoing projects, students may assist with:

  • Cancer prevention and early detection initiatives
  • Community outreach and engagement
  • Cancer screening programs
  • Rural and underserved population health initiatives
  • Health communication campaigns
  • Health disparities and health equity projects
  • Quality improvement and implementation science
  • Community-based participatory research (CBPR)

Minimum Qualifications

  • Undergraduate background in public health and/or Graduate student in Public Health
  • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint).

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Must be a current student enrolled at Upstate Medical University and approved for financial aid through the Student Financial Aid office at Upstate.

Work Days:

Hybrid. Negotiable based on class schedule
