Role Summary
The Director of the Magnet Program provides strategic leadership for achieving and maintaining
Magnet Recognition
by overseeing enterprise-wide initiatives, aligning them with organizational priorities, and embedding Magnet principles into nursing practice, governance, research, quality, and workforce strategies.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead Magnet journey, including designation and redesignation efforts, setting milestones and success metrics.
- Identify risks, develop mitigation strategies, and advise senior leadership on Magnet readiness and strategic decisions.
- Ensure Magnet strategy integration into organizational plans, nursing priorities, and quality goals.
- Lead the Magnet Steering Committee, coordinate resources, and oversee the Magnet Program Office.
- Align governance structures with Magnet expectations, promoting RN decision-making and embedding principles into daily practice.
- Partner with nursing, quality, HR, informatics, and academic teams to foster a culture of excellence and research.
- Ensure outcomes related to nursing-sensitive indicators, RN satisfaction, research, and evidence-based practice meet or exceed benchmarks.
- Represent the organization in Magnet-related engagements, promote messaging, and support site visits and appraisals.
- Perform additional duties as needed to support Magnet and organizational goals.
Qualifications & Skills
- Leadership experience in nursing or healthcare program management.
- Strong strategic planning, risk management, and organizational alignment skills.
- Excellent communication, collaboration, and advocacy abilities.
- Knowledge of Magnet standards, nursing practice, governance, and quality improvement.
- Ability to lead cross-disciplinary teams and manage complex initiatives.
