Job Description:
The Production Supervisor will be responsible for managing small work teams in a fast-paced, high-volume, unionized manufacturing environment. The Production Supervisor is responsible for ensuring team safety; building teams and training/allocating manpower; driving and implementing continuous improvement solutions to improve product quality and reach throughput and cost targets; and ensuring team morale.
Responsibilities:
- Supervise about 30-50 production employees and make sure everyone is doing their work correctly.
- Monitor production lines to ensure targets are being met.
- Solve problems when machines, automation systems, or production processes cause delays.
- Maintain a safe work environment and enforce safety procedures.
- Train, coach, and develop team members.
- Handle employee scheduling, staffing, and attendance issues.
- Work with quality teams to ensure products meet standards.
- Lead continuous improvement efforts to increase productivity, reduce waste, and lower costs.
- Spend much of the shift walking the production floor, monitoring operations, and responding to issues in real time.
Must Have Skills :
- 1-2 years of experience in production supervision in a high-volume environment
- Excellent organization, written and oral communication skills
- Ability to build effective business relationships with plant leadership and customers
- Ability to handle multiple projects simultaneously
- Goal-oriented self-starter with ability to lead teams
- Ability to coach/mentor/develop team members
- Must have a good working knowledge of Microsoft Office- specifically Excel
- Ability to spend extended periods on the production floor, including walking throughout the facility and climbing stairs as required
- High school diploma or GED
