Production Supervisor

About This Role

This full-time, day shift position involves supervising and coordinating union-hourly workers in the manufacturing of parts or products, ensuring adherence to quality standards. The role is based in Lancaster, PA, and requires a candidate who is mechanically inclined and experienced in manufacturing, with supervisory experience preferred.

Responsibilities

• Directly supervise employees according to company policies and procedures, including interviewing, hiring and training employees; planning, assigning and directing work; appraising performance, rewarding and disciplining employees; addressing complaints and resolving problems
• Compute amounts of stock and supplies required for operations, based on production schedules, and requisition materials from storage area
• Interface with others in the organization to ensure customer deadlines are met
• Direct workers in adjusting machines and equipment to repair products which fail to meet standards
• Establish or adjust work procedures to meet production schedules
• Develop, recommend, and implement measures to improve production methods, equipment performance, and quality of products
• Suggest changes in working conditions and use of equipment to increase efficiency of shop, department or work crew
• Analyze and resolve work problems, or assist workers in solving work problems
• Maintain time and production records
• Estimate, requisition, and inspect materials
• Have primary supervision responsibility for receiving and shipping functions of the plant
• Adjust inventory discrepancies as necessary after investigation
• Assist with corrective actions to prevent future inventory discrepancies
• Update interested parties to the status of work and transfer orders as necessary
• Expedite orders or alter schedules to meet unforeseen conditions
• Coordinate with purchasing to expedite and procure materials as plans change
• Backflush work orders for assigned production such as Rad and carton pack
• Manage transfer and work orders for assigned transfer parts
• Manage firm planned orders/purchase orders for assigned purchase parts
• Assist in planning and execution of annual physical inventory
• Interpret specifications, blueprints, and job orders, and assign duties
• Confer with management or engineering staff to determine quality and reliability standards
• Recommend modifications of existing quality or production standards to achieve optimum quality within limits of equipment capability
• Receive Transfer and purchase orders and resolve all discrepancies on a timely basis
• Mark material to designated bin locations
