About This Role
This role is for an experienced product strategist to guide clients in building impactful products. The strategist will define product visions, positioning, and roadmaps, ensuring alignment from executive leadership to development teams. The position involves working as a consultant with client teams and stakeholders, leveraging expertise to shape product portfolios and drive strategic decisions.
Responsibilities
- Act as a consultant for clients and guide them through product-strategic issues
- Determine product vision and positioning: which product to build, for whom, what is the value proposition, and when
- Create a product manifesto that serves as a guide for all choices and communication around the product
- Translate vision into roadmaps and substantiate business requirements and scoping
- Look beyond one product: help organizations manage and align a complete product portfolio, and connect multiple Product Owners and initiatives at a higher abstract level
- Make high-level option trade-offs regarding build, license, partner, or acquisition, including make-buy-AI
- Create support through stakeholder management and steerco's, and convincingly pitch choices to management and executive board
- Substantiate initiatives with real prototypes and experiments; closing the loop, with feedback and impact measurement, is a core principle
- Guide and embed change in the organization and take ownership where the organization allows
- Strategically monitor products after launch and consciously and structuredly transfer work to the Product Manager and internal teams
- Leverage AI as a tool in own work: for syntheses, continuous benchmarking, scenarios, and initial working prototypes that build support
Requirements
- At least 5 years of relevant experience in product strategy, product management, innovation, or a similar strategic role
- Experience as a consultant: accustomed to quickly finding your way with different clients, building trust, and making an impact
- Entrepreneurial and multidisciplinary; connect the dots between business, users, technology, and organization
- Experience with business analysis or UX design and with setting up product visions, roadmaps, positioning, and go-to-market strategies
- Able to guide organizations in strategic choices and know how to build support with executive board, management, and teams
- Environmentally sensitive and dare to claim direction: build credibility and take the mandate to steer a product or portfolio
- Remain high-level, but stay in touch with the real work; know where your role stops and that of a Product Owner, analyst, or designer begins
- Able to incorporate AI options into strategic product choices and curious about how AI changes products and the product profession
