Product Quality Engineer, Scaled Quality

About This Role

This role focuses on reinventing supplier quality best practices to fit Amazon's specific needs within a complex supply chain, reporting to the Manager of Supplier Quality in the Robotics Deployment and Packaging Innovation Design for Scale organization. The position suits a talented and motivated Senior Supplier Quality Engineer with a proven track record of delivering results who is adept at driving change at suppliers, in designs, and with key business processes. You will be depended on to implement systems in an ambiguous environment to enable faster responses and yield better outputs from product development through sustaining operations.

Responsibilities

• Actively support and foster a culture of inclusion
• Develop supplier quality engagement strategies from product development through sustaining operations
• Develop strategy and support supplier product qualification best practices
• Actively engage in the Product Development Process (PDP)
• Develop, review, and approve qualification documents such as product dimensional data, PFMEAs, Control Plans, DFM, etc.
• Support hardware development and implementation processes of custom automation reducing product cost and risk
• Scale supplier process and quality systems to reduce observed field defect rates
• Lead Surveillance and Process Audits to ensure adherence to specification and identify continuous improvement opportunities
• Drive internal and external CAPAs, improvement, and design change opportunities
• Solve and prevent technical product and process problems across a broad set of manufacturing commodities
• Identify failure trends and drive investigation, failure analysis, and remediation
• Support and coordinate supplier change requests
• Define and implement Supplier selection, approval, and development process and strategies
• Conduct pre-business award Scalability Assessments and subsequent sourcing selection initiatives
• Guide and drive best practice supplier management activities

Requirements

• BS degree in mechanical engineering or equivalent
• Experience in developing functional specifications, design verification plans, and functional test procedures
• 2+ years of relevant work experience in Supplier Quality
• BS Degree in an engineering discipline (i.e. Mechanical, Electrical, or Industrial) or equivalent experience
• Experience with quality concepts, tools, and methods such as 8D, DOE, APQP, PPAP, FMEA, Measurement Systems Analysis, etc.
• Demonstrated experience implementing quality engineering principles through development and NPI programs
• Functional knowledge of industry standards such as ISO9001 or AS9100

Nice to have:

• Experience working with interdisciplinary teams to execute product design from concept to production
• Experience with the project management of technical projects
• Engineering or Business Master’s degree
• BSME / BSIE / BSEE
• Electro-Mechanical experience related to large format complex high speed automation and packaging materials (corrugate/paper)
• ASQ Certification
• PMP Certification
• Understanding of Statistical Process Controls and part measurement/qualification practices
• Strong understanding of Quality concepts and tools, such as SPC, Corrective Action Investigation, Lean Manufacturing, 5S, Six Sigma, FMEA
• Working knowledge of basic CAD to interrogate models
• Working knowledge of GD&T based on ASME Y14.5
• PLM experience (Teamcenter)
• Experience with statistical evaluation software such as Minitab
• Effective communicator, able to work effectively with global and cross-functional stakeholders
