Product Mechanical Engineer

About This Role

This role is for a Mechanical Resident Engineer in the plant, responsible for assigned projects. The engineer will handle design-related problem-solving activities, risk assessments, and plant-related issues, working on improvement projects as an extended resource to the Value Stream Organization.

Responsibilities

• Work on improvement projects such as scrap reduction, downtime, fall-out-rate (FOR), internal defect cost (IDC), and improvements on line utilization
• Support and assist on plant/supplier related issues such as tooling replacement (evaluation of local sources for mechanical components) and supplier delivery issues
• Assess and provide guidance from a development perspective to commodity related issues such as plastics, die-cast, stamping, etc.
• Take technical responsibility for cost reduction initiatives such as component localization in North America and Ratio Project Planning (RPP)
• Assess technical impact of product deviation from the mechanical side
• Lead internal and external communication
• Ensure stable, consistent transparency of risks and problems
• Plan the entire project realistically and completely
• Organize internal and external escalation and crisis management
• Integrate line management
• Integrate and motivate the project team

Requirements

• BS Degree in Mechanical, Electromechanical or Mechatronics Engineering
• 3 to 4 years in similar roles
• Creative, proactive, analytic, leadership and good negotiation skills
