Product Engineer

About This Role

This engineering role focuses on releasing new products, developing related products, and adjusting existing products, with a primary focus on cable assembly new product development and sustaining engineering. The position supports and provides all aspects of Product Engineering.

Responsibilities

• Gather and review all relevant data to understand and determine requirements, ensuring completeness, and apply this into a package of demands for the desired product
• Conduct feasibility studies (costs, product technically, material technically, applicability)
• Decide on the technical realization
• Choose product designs, complying with internal rules according to specification and purpose
• Prepare sketches and drawings accordingly
• Draw up product specifications and bill of materials accurately
• Take responsibility for design validity and release of a design or alterations
• Perform possible problem analyses, tests, and trials, implementing them where necessary
• Follow up and report on development progress
• Provide cross-discipline product-related advice and assistance for resolving production concerns related to Product Engineering issues
• Respond to internal production concerns, including deviation/concession approval
• Discuss work implementation and problems with other involved parties
• Support engineers with test and trial results and analysis, advise on packaging and possible alternatives and product specifications
• Provide technical consultancy and advice on assigned products for internal and external parties
• Liaise with customers at all levels on Product Engineering related inquiries
• Liaise with vendors at all levels as required
• Dispose of sample production

Requirements

• Engineering degree or similar
• 2+ years of on-the-job experience in Product Design and Manufacturing Engineering
• Distinct work practice with testing devices
• Fully acquainted with CAD systems and, if necessary, production tools
• Product validation and testing specification requirements
• Materials selection expertise
• Fully acquainted with the computer and common software, including engineering software
