**- Lead products from concept through to production
- Shape the future of hydrogen product development
- Join a supportive team with experienced engineering professionals**
Oasis Engineering (part of the global Elaflex HIBY Group based in Germany) is a leading manufacturer of valve products for New Zealand & Export markets. We design and develop our own range of products for the Dairy, Gas & Hydrogen markets. Our continuous improvement philosophy is to improve our people, products, services, systems and procedures regularly.
As our product development activity continues to grow, particularly in the emerging hydrogen market, we are expanding our engineering team. We are now seeking an experienced Product Development Engineer to join our Tauranga-based team and play a key role in developing the next generation of Oasis products.
About the Role
You will take ownership of product development projects from initial concept through to production, working closely with internal teams, suppliers, customers and external testing organisations.
Our ideal candidate will have 5+ years of experience in a product development-focused engineering role, with a proven track record of leading products through the complete development lifecycle. We are particularly interested in candidates who have hands-on experience taking a product from concept, through design, prototyping and testing, into production and ongoing improvement.
You will have the opportunity to work on both established and emerging product technologies, including products supporting the growing hydrogen industry.
Key Responsibilities:
- Lead the design and development of new products from concept through to testing, release and manufacture
- Lead product development projects and coordinate project teams, suppliers and customers
- Coordinate prototype manufacture and undertake prototype testing, R&D and product validation
- Undertake type testing, including working with third-party Notified Bodies where required
- Produce and maintain product documentation, including design specifications, technical information and instructions
- Create and modify 3D models, assemblies and manufacturing drawings using CAD
- Coordinate the introduction of new products into manufacturing, including Poka Yoke jig design and assembly processes
- Interpret and apply relevant engineering standards and make recommendations where required
- Investigate product and customer issues, carrying out testing and providing technical support to the wider team
About You
This role would suit an experienced engineer who has spent a significant part of their career developing physical engineered products, rather than someone whose experience has primarily been in general engineering, maintenance, production or design support.
You'll also need to demonstrate:
- Experience leading product development projects and coordinating project teams and external suppliers
- Strong practical understanding of product testing, validation and design verification
- Experience producing and maintaining engineering and product documentation
- Strong CAD skills and experience producing 3D models, assemblies and manufacturing drawings
- Good understanding of manufacturing processes and design for manufacture
- Experience interpreting and applying engineering standards and specifications
- A methodical approach to troubleshooting, investigation and problem-solving
- Strong project management, organisation and self-management skills
- High attention to detail and excellent record-keeping skills
- The ability to communicate effectively and work collaboratively with engineering, manufacturing, suppliers and customers
- A practical, hands-on approach and willingness to get involved in prototype development and testing
- Willingness to travel domestically and internationally when required
Experience with valves, pressure equipment, gas, hydrogen or other regulated engineering products would be advantageous, but is not essential.
Most importantly, we're looking for someone who can demonstrate that they have personally taken products through the development journey - not just contributed to one part of it.
Why Join Us?:
- Be part of an innovative and growing engineering company with global backing
- Work on meaningful projects in future-focused industries like hydrogen
- Supportive, team-oriented culture with long-standing staff
- Opportunity to develop your skills and grow your career
- Enjoy living and working in the beautiful Bay of Plenty
