About the role

About The Company Bestow is a pioneering technology company dedicated to transforming the life insurance industry. Recognizing the complexities and outdated processes that have historically hindered the distribution and modernization of life insurance products, Bestow has positioned itself as a leading vertical technology platform. Our platform unifies fragmented, legacy value chains, enabling insurance carriers to launch new products rapidly—reducing deployment times from years to weeks. Powered by artificial intelligence and automation, we help carriers scale efficiently and operate at unprecedented speeds. Our mission is not to sell policies directly but to build the infrastructure that accelerates industry growth, broadens access, and enhances trustworthiness. Backed by prominent investors such as Goldman Sachs, Hedosophia, NEA, Valar, and 8VC, and trusted by major industry carriers, Bestow is driven by a team committed to innovation, purpose, and impact. We offer flexible remote or hybrid work arrangements, meaningful benefits, equity options, and substantial growth opportunities, fostering an inclusive environment where talent can thrive.

About The Role We are seeking a Product Designer II to join our Underwriting module team, which is instrumental in shaping how underwriters and managers operate within the Bestow workbench. This role involves designing operational, B2B product experiences that streamline case management, capacity planning, workload distribution, analytics, and AI-enabled decision-making tools. The ideal candidate will have a strong research background and the ability to quickly translate ambiguous requirements into clear, functional designs. As part of a prototype-first environment, you will work extensively in Figma and coded prototypes, collaborating closely with engineering and product teams in shared repositories. Your work will directly influence how complex insurance decisions are made, ensuring clarity, efficiency, and trust in high-stakes, regulated workflows. You will report to the Senior Manager of UX Design and have the opportunity to contribute to a mission-driven team dedicated to making insurance more accessible and human-centered.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent professional experience
  • 3-5 years of product design experience, preferably in complex or regulated domains such as fintech, healthcare, enterprise B2B, or insurance
  • Strong portfolio demonstrating systems thinking, research-to-shipping discipline, and attention to interaction and visual detail
  • Proficiency in Figma and modern prototyping tools and approaches
  • Hands-on experience building or iterating on designs within an IDE or code-based environment (e.g., Cursor, VS Code with AI assistants, Claude Code)
  • Ability to read and navigate coded prototypes and collaborate effectively in shared repositories with engineering teams
  • Experience using AI tools in daily design practice, with concrete examples of automation and human judgment balance
  • Experience contributing to or working within design systems and component libraries
  • Strong analytical skills, comfortable with qualitative and quantitative data to inform decisions
  • Excellent communication skills and a proven track record of cross-functional collaboration
  • Comfort operating in ambiguity and making progress with incomplete information

Responsibilities

  • Own end-to-end design processes for assigned initiatives, including problem framing, research, prototyping, validation, and implementation collaboration
  • Conduct user research through interviews, usability testing, and data analysis to validate design decisions and inform product strategy
  • Partner with product managers to define problems, outline approaches, and establish success metrics amidst evolving requirements
  • Create user flows, diagrams, Figma designs, and coded prototypes that clearly communicate design intent to stakeholders and engineering teams
  • Navigate and collaborate within shared code repositories, reviewing existing prototypes, iterating with AI assistance, and supporting engineering during implementation
  • Work closely with engineering teams to ensure design integrity while respecting technical constraints
  • Participate in design critiques and contribute to elevating overall team quality and standards
  • Advocate for user-centered design principles within the context of regulated products where trust, auditability, and operational clarity are paramount

Benefits

  • Competitive salary and equity packages
  • Flexible work arrangements including remote and hybrid options
  • 100% paid premiums for medical, dental, and vision insurance
  • Lifestyle stipend supporting physical, emotional, and financial wellbeing
  • Generous paid time off policies and parental leave programs
  • Inclusive culture with employee-led diversity, equity, and inclusion initiatives
  • Recognition as a great place to work, including awards such as Best Place for Working Parents and Fortune's Best Workplaces in Texas and Financial Services
