Job Opportunity Product Designer
A leading global pharmaceutical innovator is seeking a skilled Product Designer to join their team in Lexington, Massachusetts. This role is ideal for a design professional who excels at merging user research with functional design to create life changing medical products and digital health solutions.
The successful candidate will move beyond traditional graphic design to solve complex challenges involving user behavior and regulatory compliance. You will be responsible for the end to end design process for medical devices, combination products, and digital interfaces. This includes everything from initial journey mapping and user research to the final creation of instructional materials, packaging, and high fidelity prototypes.
Key Responsibilities
Partner with design leadership to develop user centric physical and digital products.
Design compliant packaging and labeling that prioritizes clarity and accessibility for patients and clinicians.
Lead the strategy for instructional materials including physical guides, digital tools, and video support.
Perform exploratory research to identify design trends and translate user needs into technical requirements.
Develop wireframes, storyboards, and interactive prototypes to test and validate concepts.
Collaborate with cross functional departments including engineering, human factors, regulatory, and quality assurance.
Manage external vendors and partners to ensure timely project completion.
Advocate for the patient experience throughout the entire product development lifecycle.
Technical Skills and Requirements
Expertise in UI and UX design principles including usability testing.
Advanced skills in Adobe Creative Suite specifically Illustrator, InDesign, and Photoshop.
Proficiency in 3D CAD software such as SolidWorks or Fusion 360.
High level of proficiency in Figma for design systems and prototyping.
Experience creating technical illustrations and photorealistic renderings.
Familiarity with regulatory standards for medical device design.
Ability to use AI enabled design tools to enhance research and visualization workflows.
A background in human factors engineering or medical illustration is highly desirable.
Professional Qualifications
Bachelor degree with at least 5 years of experience or a Master degree with 3 or more years of experience.
Experience must be in UI UX Design, Industrial Design, Medical Illustration, or a related field within the biotech, medical device, or consumer technology sectors.
Strong problem solving skills and the ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast paced environment.
Excellent communication skills and a detail oriented mindset.
Availability for up to 10 percent annual travel both domestic and international.
Compensation and Environment
This is a full time regular position offering a competitive salary range of 103,500 to 162,690 USD depending on experience and qualifications. Our client provides a comprehensive benefits package and fosters an inclusive culture dedicated to continuous improvement and innovation.
