Procurement Manager

About This Role

Leading the purchasing function and playing a key role in supporting manufacturing operations, improving supplier performance, and delivering commercial value is the core of this Procurement Manager position. This role suits an experienced procurement professional with a background in electronics or engineering manufacturing who enjoys leading a team, building strong supplier relationships, and driving improvements across purchasing and supply chain operations.

Responsibilities

• Lead, motivate, and develop a team of three Buyers, setting objectives and monitoring performance
• Manage procurement activities across mechanical and electro-mechanical components, ensuring continuity of supply to manufacturing
• Negotiate pricing, commercial agreements, and supplier contracts to achieve best value
• Develop strong supplier relationships and monitor performance against cost, quality, and delivery targets
• Drive cost-reduction initiatives while maintaining product quality and service levels
• Manage supplier shortages, resolve supply chain issues, and identify potential risks
• Work with Engineering and other stakeholders to identify alternative suppliers, materials, and sourcing solutions
• Improve purchasing processes, orderbook management, inventory control, and procurement reporting

Requirements

• Proven experience managing and developing a purchasing or procurement team
• Experience purchasing mechanical components, including sheet metal or plastics
• Strong understanding of manufacturing supply chains and production-driven procurement
• Excellent negotiation skills and experience delivering cost savings and commercial improvements
• Ability to build effective, long-term supplier relationships and manage supplier performance
• Experience with ERP/MRP systems and purchasing or inventory management processes
• Strong analytical, organisational, and problem-solving skills
• Confidence to work collaboratively with stakeholders across Engineering, Manufacturing, and the wider business
