PRN OTA (Occupational Therapy Assistant)

About This Role

This PRN (as needed) Occupational Therapy Assistant (OTA) role involves providing therapeutic services to patients in a skilled nursing facility. Under the supervision of a licensed Occupational Therapist, you will assist in developing and implementing individualized treatment plans to improve patients' daily living activities, enhance their quality of life, and facilitate their overall rehabilitation goals. This position offers flexible scheduling.

Responsibilities

• Implement treatment plans as developed by the Occupational Therapist
• Assist patients with therapeutic exercises, activities, and functional tasks
• Monitor and document patient progress, including physical and emotional responses to therapy
• Educate patients and their families on strategies to improve daily functioning and independence
• Participate in patient evaluations and assessments, providing relevant input to the Occupational Therapist
• Maintain accurate and timely documentation of patient care, progress, and any changes in condition
• Ensure compliance with facility policies, state regulations, and professional standards
• Work closely with the Occupational Therapist and other healthcare professionals to coordinate patient care
• Communicate effectively with patients, families, and interdisciplinary team members regarding treatment plans and progress
• Attend and contribute to team meetings and case conferences as needed
• Adhere to infection control and safety protocols to ensure a safe environment for patients
• Follow facility procedures for handling equipment and materials used in therapy
• Stay updated with continuing education and professional development to maintain licensure and enhance clinical skills
• Assist with scheduling patient appointments and managing therapy equipment
• Participate in facility-wide quality improvement initiatives and contribute to program development

Requirements

• Associate degree in Occupational Therapy Assistant program from an accredited institution
• Current state licensure or certification as an Occupational Therapy Assistant
• Strong interpersonal and communication skills
• Ability to work collaboratively within a team
• Excellent organizational and time management abilities
• Compassionate and patient-focused approach to care

Nice to have:

• Previous experience in a skilled nursing facility or similar setting
