Role Overview: The CT Technologist applies expertise to deliver safe, high-quality imaging and a supportive patient experience at a healthcare facility. They are valued clinical professionals and essential members of a collaborative care team.
Responsibilities
- Perform CT procedures following department guidelines, capturing diagnostic images with technical proficiency.
- Operate imaging equipment independently, adjusting techniques to maintain quality while minimizing patient dose (ALARA).
- Maintain cleanliness and functionality of equipment and rooms; identify and report issues promptly.
- Obtain clinical history, verify orders, and ensure patient safety through proper screening and identification.
- Communicate procedures and prep instructions clearly, addressing patient questions and reducing anxiety using AIDET.
- Ensure patient comfort, privacy, and safety; provide age-appropriate care throughout the visit.
- Administer contrast agents, perform venipuncture, and apply sterile techniques when necessary.
- Position patients correctly, use shielding, and apply immobilization tools as needed.
- Review images for diagnostic quality, repeat or correct images as necessary, and accurately document in RIS/PACS systems.
- Monitor patient condition, respond to emergencies, and assist with maintaining life-support equipment.
- Organize workflows, support department operations, and collaborate with team members to meet departmental needs.
- Support compliance, keep areas organized and stocked, transport patients safely, and handle clerical tasks, escalating issues appropriately.
Qualifications & Skills
- High School Diploma or equivalent and completion of an accredited Radiologic Technology program.
- Minimum of 1 year radiology experience.
- Certifications: ARRT - R (Radiography), ARRT - CT (Computed Tomography), and BLS (Basic Life Support).
