About This Role
This principal role involves applying quantitative hydrogeology to a variety of groundwater remediation and water resources projects across the US and internationally. It suits a detail-oriented and dependable groundwater scientist or engineer with a strong background in mathematical interpretation of hydrogeologic systems, who is passionate about creating high-quality work products.
Responsibilities
- Perform quantitative and qualitative interpretation of hydrogeologic systems
- Develop conceptual site models (CSM)
- Design conceptual remedial systems
- Conduct analytical calculations and water resource evaluations
- Evaluate remedial system performance
- Design remediation and supply wells
- Design and analyze aquifer tests
- Perform geostatistical analysis and modeling of hydrogeologic data
- Apply advanced analytical and numerical groundwater flow and transport modeling to support environmental remediation and water resource projects
- Visualize CSM components and flow/transport modeling results
- Prepare technical reports and presentations
- Design, oversee, and analyze subsurface characterization and remediation activities
- Prepare planning documents
- Install soil borings
- Install monitoring and remediation wells
- Collect soil and water samples (e.g., vertical aquifer profiling)
- Conduct geophysical investigations
- Perform tracer tests
- Interpret and document investigation results (i.e., interpretation of geologic depositional environments and hydrogeologic conditions)
- Communicate and work closely with project teams, clients, and regulatory agencies
- Review work products developed by junior staff and mentor/help develop their careers
- Assist with writing and preparing technical reports, work plans, proposals, and presentations
- Produce figures, maps, and graphical summaries of data trends
- Conduct project-related research (historical data, regulations, etc.)
- Prepare and present both internal- and external-facing technical presentations and/or articles to help demonstrate thought leadership and to advance innovation
Requirements
- Minimum 15 to 20 years of experience
- MS in Geology, Hydrogeology, Engineering, Environmental Science or related discipline
- Knowledge of the environmental and water resources regulatory regime across the United States
- Professional Engineer (PE) or Registered/Professional Geologist (RG/PG) certification/license
- 40-Hour OSHA Hazardous Waste Operations and Emergency Response Standard (HAZWOPER) Training
