Principal Estimator

About This Role

This role leads the delivery of assigned project estimates, covering all AACEi estimate classes and project values up to $1 billion. The Principal Estimator will lead and supervise the project estimating team for Class 3/2 estimates, ensuring delivery within budget and schedule, and supporting the estimate through the required governance process.

Responsibilities

• Produce proposal and/or project estimates, ensuring compliance with company standards and procedures
• Coordinate and supervise estimating teams during the production of major detailed cost estimates (proposals and projects), with the ability to challenge inputs across all disciplines
• Prepare detailed estimating plans prior to execution, including scheduling and assignment of responsibilities
• Control project estimate preparation budgets and maintain workload schedule and manpower requirement records for incorporation into the Estimating Section workload schedule
• Ensure that estimate completion dates are met and that work is accurate and well presented in accordance with company policies and procedures
• Liaise with the Contracts Department regarding contractual and insurance issues
• Identify risk items and measures to mitigate risks
• Perform detailed estimate reviews with Estimators and Engineers prior to Management reviews
• Prepare detailed estimate reports and basis of estimate write-ups
• Present project/proposal estimates to Management and/or Clients
• Prepare detailed proposal or project close-out reports, in accordance with procedures
• Assure compliance with all requirements of the companies’ standard formats and procedures
• Assist with capturing best practice and benchmarking metrics to improve estimating processes and procedures

Requirements

• Several years’ experience at Senior or higher level preparing professional pricing or contract tendering
• High numerical individual with commercial acumen and experience in across commercial contracting models/risk profiles and project scopes/phases (FEL/EPC/EPCM & Lump Sum/Fixed Price/Target Price/Reimbursable, etc)
• Experience of successfully engaging with project management, engineering, and capture management
• Hands-on mentality
• Expert user of a globally recognized estimating tool
