About the role

Principal Consultant for Business Acceptance and Suitability

Our client, a leading name in the financial services industry, is looking for a Suitability Principal to join their Sacramento office. This individual will oversee the back office review and formal acceptance of accounts clearing through National Financial Services. This is a critical role focusing on the integrity of money movement, asset transfers, and general account maintenance while providing leadership and coaching within the operations team.

In this position, you will act as a primary point of contact for registered representatives and agency staff, offering expert guidance on suitability requirements and broker dealer policies. You will tackle complex problem resolution, ranging from margin related matters to international money movement and death or divorce related transfers. The role requires a high level of critical thinking and the ability to work across departments like Compliance and Risk to ensure all regulatory standards are met.

Key Responsibilities

  • Review and approve broker dealer business submissions including corporate RIA accounts, mutual funds, 529 plans, and options accounts.
  • Oversee disbursements and transfers, including federal wires and international movements.
  • Collaborate with internal partners such as legal and anti money laundering teams to mitigate risk.
  • Manage and implement operational and supervisory procedures for the firm.
  • Identify trends and report risk mitigation measures to senior management.
  • Serve as a subject matter expert on IRS regulations, banking workflows, and retirement products.
  • Provide backup support for other business acceptance units as needed.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Current FINRA Series 7 and 24 licenses are required.
  • At least three years of experience in brokerage or advisory transfer of assets and money movement.
  • Proven background in conducting suitability reviews within a financial services environment.
  • Ability to work a hybrid schedule of three days in the office for those living within a 50 mile radius of a local corporate hub.
  • Strong communication skills and the ability to work independently without direct supervision.

Professional Attributes

We are looking for a candidate with a high degree of ownership and a sense of urgency. You should be a self motivated team player who can tactfully challenge opinions and drive process improvements. Superior customer service skills and the ability to thrive in a fast paced atmosphere are essential for success in this role.

Educational Background

A high school diploma is required, though a college degree with a concentration in finance or business is highly preferred.

Benefits and Culture

Our client offers a stable ethical business environment with industry leading compensation. Employees have access to extensive networking opportunities through various resource groups and a robust platform for continuous professional learning. Your integrity and accountability will be highly valued in this inclusive and agile workplace.
