About This Role
Preparing customer artwork for accurate and consistent print production is the core of this role. You will review incoming files, resolve technical issues, prepare proofs, and coordinate approved artwork with production requirements. This position requires attention to detail, sound file-management practices, and an understanding of how artwork preparation affects printed materials.
Responsibilities
- Review artwork against job specifications, including dimensions, materials, print method, colors, and finishing requirements
- Perform preflight checks for fonts, image resolution, bleed, trim, transparency, and other production issues
- Verify artwork placement against approved packaging dielines, including folds, cuts, glue areas, and required clearances
- Check color separations, spot colors, overprint, and trapping according to the assigned production workflow
- Make authorized technical corrections without changing approved customer content
- Prepare proofs and clearly identify questions requiring customer or internal approval
- Confirm that the correct version and approvals are recorded before releasing files
- Prepare imposition or step-and-repeat layouts when required and within the assigned scope
- Export production-ready files using approved settings
- Coordinate with press and finishing personnel to resolve file-related concerns
- Help investigate print defects that may originate in artwork or file processing
- Maintain organized source files, linked assets, revision histories, and production records
- Communicate missing information or technical issues that could affect deadlines
- Protect confidential artwork, customer information, and licensed assets
Requirements
- Experience in prepress, print production artwork, or a closely related role
- Understanding of print-ready PDFs, raster and vector graphics, typography, and image resolution
- Familiarity with CMYK, spot colors, separations, overprint, and transparency
- Ability to read job specifications and interpret packaging dielines
- Proficiency with professional artwork and PDF-preparation software
- Strong attention to detail and a systematic approach to checking files
- Ability to manage multiple jobs and maintain accurate version control
- Clear communication with customer-service, design, and production teams
