Powered Support Equipment Repairer

Duties

Duties:
As a Powered Support Equipment Repairer, you will be responsible for the following duties:

• Performs a limited range of maintenance and repair work on a wide variety of powered support equipment such as powered generator units up to 125KV, light sets and GSA vehicles.
• Inspects and troubleshoots equipment; services and makes repairs including removing and replacing new or rebuilt assemblies, such as voltage regulators, alternators/generators, brake cylinders, etc.
• Performs operational checks and ensures equipment is properly serviced, including brake adjustments; replaces hydraulic fluids and greases.
• Repairs batteries and replaces cells, terminals, and cables using special tools and torches.

Physical Effort:
Considerable amount of the work is performed in tiring positions such as standing, crouching, stooping, or kneeling; muscular effort is required in lifting or moving weights up to 75 pounds.

Working Conditions:
Works inside and outside. Is subject to burns from acids, hot metals, flying metal splinters, eye strain, and severe temperature changes when working close to heat, than returning to indoor or outdoor work locations. Working conditions are a normal part of the job and are considered in the evaluation.

Qualifications
Applicants will be rated in accordance with the Office of Personnel Management Qualification Standard for Trades and Labor Occupations. Although a specific length of time and experience is not required, you must meet any screen-out element listed, and show through experience and training that you possess the quality level of knowledge and skill necessary to perform the duties at the level for which you are applying. Emphasis is placed on how you gained the quality of experience, not necessarily the length of time, and the required ability or potential to perform the job. Applicants who do not meet the screen-out element (SOE) will be eliminated from further competition.

• Ability to do the Work of a Powered Support Equipment Repairer Without More Than Normal Supervision (Screen Out Element)
• Knowledge of Equipment Assembly, Installation, Repair, and Materials etc...
• Ability to Perform Technical Practices and Troubleshoot Problems.
• Ability to Interpret Instructions, Specification, etc. (includes blueprinting reading)
• Ability to Use and Maintain Tools and Equipment
