Job Summary/Basic Functions: Neuroscience Center of Excellence at LSU Health Sciences Center-New Orleans is seeking full-time Postdoctoral Fellows in regenerative medicine, wound healing, wound infection, antimicrobial discovery, pain, leukocyte, stem cell, and Alzheimer’s disease,
Responsibilities
The successful candidate will use multidisciplinary approaches that may include cell and molecular biology, imaging, behavioral studies, LC-MS/MS, flow cytometry, and animal models in the studies of regenerative medicine, diabetic or aging-impaired wound healing, wound infection, antimicrobial discovery and bactericidal evaluation, skin biology, inflammation, leukocyte biology, stem cell biology, biomaterials, Alzheimer’s disease, neurodegeneration, neuropathy, pain, neural regeneration, or stem cell biology.
Responsibilities include designing and conducting independent and collaborative research, developing experimental approaches, analyzing data, preparing manuscripts and presentations, and contributing to laboratory operations and grant development. Candidates are not expected to have expertise in every area listed above.
Qualifications
A PhD or equivalent doctoral degree must be confirmed by the employment start date. Applicants should have training or research experience in one or more of the following areas: microbiology, regenerative medicine, wound healing, immunology, pharmacology, medicinal or synthetic chemistry, diabetes, aging, skin biology/dermatology, neuropathy, pain neurobiology, inflammation, leukocyte or stem cell biology, and Alzheimer’s disease.
Key qualifications include scientific integrity, creativity, resourcefulness, enthusiasm, openness to new ideas, and the ability to identify important research questions and develop innovative solutions to scientific problems. Responsible, reliable, and prudent professional conduct is also expected.
Number of years required to perform the job: 0–4 years related research experience after obtaining PhD degree.
